Altamont boys track secured five top 8 medals at the Illinois Top Times Indoor Track Championship meet on Friday at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington. Altamont senior Ben Roedl placed in the top 4 of all three events he competed in taking second place in the High Jump with a height of 6’ 6” and second place in the Triple Jump with a distance of 43’ 10.75” while taking fourth place in the Long Jump with a distance of 21’ 6.25”. Altamont junior Jacob Veteto took fourth place in the Pole Vault with a height of 13’ 11.75” and senior Hayden Summers finished in eighth place in the 400m Dash with at time of 52.31 seconds. For the Altamont girls, freshman Ada Roberts finished in 13th place in the Long Jump with a distance of 16’ 0.5” and senior Abby Weishaar finished in 15th place in the 400m Dash with a time of 1:02.86. The 4×200 relay team of Roberts, A. Weishaar, Katie Tedrick and Gabby Weishaar took 14th place with a time of 1:55.25.
Vandalia’s four competing athletes all finished in 17th place or higher. Junior Hannah Brown finished in the highest place for the Vandals coming in 13th place in the Shot Put with a best toss of 36’ 0.75”. Sophomore Sam Bowers came in 17th in the 60 Hurdles with a time of 9.14 seconds and junior Kohnor Depew finished in 19th in the 60m Dash with a time of 7.29 seconds.
