PEORIA (25News Now) – A Bloomington native and her family found themselves in the middle of chaos as a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar, near Thailand.
Rachel Sompong, the Bloomington native in Myanmar during the earthquake, described her experience as everything around her started to move.
“It still felt like the things were shaking, and then I got this dizzy sense like, wow, it’s kind of dizzy. That’s when I think my friend said, ‘I think we’re having an earthquake,’ [I thought] this is kind of scary. We’re on a bridge and I realized more people started pulling over, too, kind of doing the same thing, just kind of wondering what’s going on,” said Sompong…
