Connect Transit and non-profit in negotiations for shelter village

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — A new method of addressing homelessness is currently being discussed in Bloomington.

Monday night, Home Sweet Home Ministries ‘ CEO Matt Burgess went before Bloomington City Council to show what the non-profit is hoping to develop at the Oakland Avenue and Main Street: A non-congregate shelter village.

Burgess said Home Sweet Home has, for the past 24 months, been trying to find a solution that “brings people indoors.” This project is their current solution…
