In 1988, three visionary women came together to make an extraordinary change in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois.

Marilyn Townley was the area coordinator for American Field Services, which involved bringing students from around the world to the local community. She was responsible for helping move kids around to different homes if there were issues. Townley was additionally raising a family with four young children.

Carolyn Schrantz was born in India, and her parents were missionaries. Driven by a passion for civil rights movements and a desire to travel the world, Schrantz sought a way to balance her commitment to making a positive impact in her community with her responsibilities as a caregiver to her husband and two children…
