NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD) — United Faculty of ISU could go on strike as soon as April 4 after the union filed an intent to strike Monday.
Keith Pluymers, an associate history professor and bargaining team member for the union, wrote in a statement to WMBD that even though progress was made, some items the United Faculty of ISU asked for were not given.
“We made significant movement on multiple fronts today because we want to get to an agreement,” Pluymers wrote. “We were pleased to see some movement from the ISU administration, but ultimately they did not produce a proposal that addresses our members’ and our students’ needs.”

He continued by saying, “In particular, we continue to be frustrated about the continued absence of anything to address our students’ needs for improved mental health support. The administration has left us no choice but to file our notice of intent to strike.”…
