WHEATON, Ill. & ELMHURST, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men’s tennis team split its College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin matches at Wheaton University and Elmhurst University Saturday, April 5. IWU (5-8, 1-1 CCIW) fell to Wheaton (7-6, 3-0 CCIW) 5-2, before responding with a 7-0 sweep at Elmhurst (1-2, 0-1 CCIW) to close out its jam-packed day.

After dropping the doubles portion to open the contest, IWU began individual play by taking the top two spots. Junior Ian Turnbull (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) locked in the win at No. 1 singles behind set scores of 6-3, 6-4. Junior Ben Vigneri (Casper, Wyo.-Phillips Exeter Academy) notched the victory at No. 2 singles. After taking the opening set, 6-4, Vigneri fell in a tiebreaker in the second, 7-6 (9).
