BLOOMINGTON VETERANS DAY CEREMONY
There will be a change of location for the annual McLean County Veterans Day ceremony this year. The event will be held at VFW Post 454 at 1006 E. Lincoln St., Bloomington (behind the Casey’s station on Morrissey Avenue) instead of on the east steps of the McLean County Museum of History. The ceremony will begin at 11 minutes to 11 a.m. with the firing of a single round from an M-1 Garand Rifle and will continue with a round fired each minute until 11 a.m. A flyover will be made at 10:50 a.m., which those attending will want to witness from the parking lot. The rest of the ceremony will be inside the VFW. The inside part of the ceremony will feature an invocation, a speaker, a three-volley rifle salute, the sounding of “Taps” and the playing of “Amazing Grace” by a bagpiper. Attendees should be at the VFW by 10:30 a.m. so that vehicles will not interfere with the people attending. Join the event and keep alive the gratitude and memories we have for what our veterans have done for all of us.
