Water quality a key talking point for Ward 1 Bloomington City Council hopefuls

BLOOMINGTON (25News Now) – The smell, taste, and clarity of Bloomington’s water supply was one of the key issues debated Saturday between the two candidates running to represent Ward 1 on the city council.

Incumbent Jenna Kearns and challenger Ben Zimmerman participated in a candidate forum hosted by the Bloomington-Normal Branch of the NAACP.

The city council has recently decided to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars as part of an expedited plan to use a powdered activated carbon (PAC) system to improve the quality of water at Lake Bloomington and Evergreen Lake, which is the city’s water supply…
