Last week Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt teamed up with the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management (OEM) to announce that the state was sending help in the efforts to aid those in need following the historic hurricane Helene battered Florida and North Carolina.
As a part of the aid, Oklahoma sent two Type 1 swift water rescue teams, which included Oklahoma Task Force 1 (TF1) members that are based in the Tulsa and Oklahoma City Fire Departments. These teams will utilize boats, trailers, and equipment.
This action was in response to Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) requests that originated at the Florida Division of Emergency Management and North Carolina Division of Emergency Management.
