Brewster FD handles 3,000 calls

BREWSTER – The Brewster Fire Department and Brewster EMS have reached a milestone for Putnam County’s emergency services community by responding to more than 3,000 calls during the year gone by.

Assistant Chief Steve Miller Thursday described 2024 as “our busiest year on record by answering 3,037 calls, a 3.2 percent increase from 2023 and a nearly four percent hike from 2022 as our once quaint little town continues to grow and develop, our call volume also consistently rises.”

During 2024, Brewster firefighters responded to 359 alarms reporting heat, smoke, and carbon monoxide activations; 212 motor vehicle accidents; 29 natural gas and propane leaks; 23 building fires and 21 brush fires…
