THRIVE Suffolk offers those people from addiction to celebrate New Year’s Eve safely

There is a safe space to go to in Suffolk County where people in recovery rom addiction can stay on track and celebrate New Year’s Eve safely. Nonprofit THRIVE Suffolk, which is part of the Family and Children’s Association, will host a recovery-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration. The community and outreach center for people in recovery from addictions on Long Island hosts the party every year. Organizers say it will look like any other New Year’s Eve party, with decorations, music, dancing and a countdown to ring in the New Year. However, there is no alcohol as it is a substance free space. THRIVE Suffolk employees say New Year’s Eve can be a trigger for people to relapse because it’s associated with alcohol.
