( KRON ) — Donald Smith, the owner of Mr. Krispy Professional Barbershop, arrived Saturday morning at his shop in the center of Oakland’s downtown to find major damage to the storefront and the ATM inside missing. His shop was the first of several businesses in the city that were rammed with vehicles that morning in order for burglars to gain entry, according to the Oakland Police Department.
The burglary at Mr. Krispy, located at 1462 High Street, occurred just after 5:30 a.m., authorities said. Multiple people used vehicles to ram the storefront, according to OPD, before gaining entry and taking “several items.” The suspects took off in the vehicles.
Photos shared by the owner show the entire front of the shop rammed in and the interior in complete disarray. Smith told KRON4 his discovery of the damage “was like some sort of scary movie … it was crazy.”
A second similar burglary occurred in the 4200 block of Foothill Boulevard at around 6:15 a.m., OPD said. In that incident, multiple people used vehicles to ram the business and gain entry. The suspects stole several items before fleeing the vehicles…
