Oakland Police Investigate Officer-Involved Shooting, Suspect In Custody After Stand-off on MacArthur Boulevard

According to a press release from the department, the situation began when an OPD sergeant encountered an individual firing a rifle on the 6600 block of MacArthur Boulevard around 5:00 AM. A brief foot chase ensued, during which the sergeant discharged their weapon.

The suspect evaded immediate capture, retreating into a nearby residence and creating a stand-off situation. After hours of negotiation, the unnamed individual was apprehended without further incident. The individual was then transported to a local hospital. Their condition was listed as stable, and the injuries sustained from the engagement with law enforcement were non-fatal. A firearm was also found at the scene, potentially linking the suspect directly to the initial act of gunfire that set these events into motion.
