C Casa, a longtime eatery inside Napa’s Oxbow Public Market, has announced its permanent closure following recent child labor violations issued by the U.S. Department of Labor last month.
In late December, the Department of Labor announced that C Casa had employed staff as young as 14 who worked at the Napa restaurant “outside permitted hours during school days.” According to the news release, underaged staffers also allegedly handled hazardous equipment. Less than two weeks later, C Casa, which is owned by Catherine Bergen, announced it was closing for good with a message thanking customers for the past 15 years. C Casa has also closed its locations inside Public Market Emeryville and at Bishop Ranch in San Ramon.
