The snow that’s forecast in Mississippi Tuesday could cause some travel issues, especially across the southern part of the state. But in this portion central Mississippi, the frigid temperatures settling in for the first part of the week may result in the biggest problems including frozen pipes. The local area is expected to wake up Monday to temperatures around 15 to 16 degrees. After “warming up” to around 20 Monday night, the coldest readings of the week are forecast for Tuesday night– around 13 degrees in Kosciusko, Carthage and Philadelphia and 14 in Durant. The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory until Thursday morning.
Regarding the snow, NWS says this area is not expected to see any significant accumulations Tuesday although most of Leake and Neshoba counties remain under an “elevated” snow threat while there’s a “limited” threat for Attala and Holmes counties.
