ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The Last Frontier Honor Flight organization brought veterans from across Alaska to the nation’s capital this week, honoring their service.
Last Frontier Honor Flights, one of several U.S. organizations providing veterans with honor flight opportunities, returned from their 19th journey to Washington D.C. Saturday afternoon. After leaving Ted Stevens International Airport Tuesday, veterans from multiple combat eras toured memorials erected in their honor and spent time with other vets.
In addition to viewing monuments and memorials honoring their service, veterans aboard the honor flight were celebrated with a ceremony upon arriving back home in Anchorage. War veterans at the airport talked about not getting a welcome home when they came back from serving. That’s one of the goals of the honor flight, to give veterans the welcome home they deserve…
