Federal suits claim Columbia leaders wrongfully imprisoned man accused of arson

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Federal lawsuits have been filed that claim city and county leaders in Columbia wrongfully imprisoned a man for six years after he was accused of arson and conspiracy to commit murder.

The Shiraz, Advanta and Pickett and Associates law firms in Kansas City recently announced that two federal lawsuits have been filed against the City of Columbia and its leaders on behalf of Mehrdad Fotoohighiam.

The suits allege that Fotoohighiam was wrongfully imprisoned for about six years on charges of conspiracy to commit murder, arson, assault and witness tampering. Alleged fabricated testimony allowed bad actors to gain control of his wealth, assets and investments…
