Man who buried estranged wife alive sentenced to 13 years in prison for horror crime

A man was sentenced to 13 years in prison to be followed by three months of community custody for kidnapping his estranged wife from her home and burying her alive as she bravely spoke out in court after surviving the horrifying incident.

According to authorities, Chae Kyong An, 54, kidnapped his estranged wife from her home in Lacey on October 16, 2022. Despite going as far as having previously put out a domestic violence protection order against him, she was not safe.

Her estranged husband, from Washington state, bound her in duct tape, even going as far as to cover her eyes, but she was cleverly able to use her Apple Watch to send an emergency notification to trusted contacts, including her eldest child…
