Santa Ana Winds create ‘critical fire weather conditions’ across California

Authorities are warning of expected “critical fire weather conditions” across California through Thursday due to gusting Santa Ana winds.

A Red Flag Warning was in effect in the Bay Area and Central California, while Los Angeles, Ventura, Orange and San Bernardino Counties were also expected to experience critical fire risk, according to the National Weather Service.

Red flag fire weather warning today in the Bay Area

The NWS issued a Red Flag Warning to begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday and continue through 7 a.m. Thursday for the majority of the Bay Area, as well as higher elevations of the Central Coast.

Wind gusts were predicted to reach as high as 50 mph in the area, along with sustained offshore winds between 20 and 30 mph. Daytime relative humidity levels around 15% were in the forecast…
