Alabama NAACP, voting rights groups sue state of Alabama

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The Alabama NAACP and several voting rights groups in the state have filed a lawsuit against Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall and Secretary of State Wes Allen.

According to Benard Simelton, President of the Alabama State Conference of the NAACP, Secretary of State Wes Allen introduced a new policy in August 2024 to purge non-citizen and naturalized voters from voter rolls.

Simelton says since that policy was introduced, more than 3,000 people have been removed from the rolls…
