Fernando Carmona has unique history with Auburn

When the Arkansas Razorbacks (2-1, 0-0 SEC) and Auburn Tigers (2-1, 0-0) meet in Saturday’s conference opener, there will be no shortage of shared history between both sidelines. One player who has arguably the most interesting history with the Tigers is starting left tackle Fernando Carmona Jr.

Carmona transferred to Arkansas this past offseason after beginning his career at San Jose State. The redshirt junior was a starter for the Spartans the past two years and earned All-Mountain West Conference Honorable Mention honors following 2023.

In 2022, Carmona received his first taste of SEC action as a redshirt freshman when San Jose State traveled to Jordan-Hare Stadium and nearly knocked off the Tigers, losing 24-16. It was the second start of his career, but speaking to the media on Tuesday night, Carmona says that experience should help him with the road environment…
