First Alert Forecast: Foggy mornings and warm afternoons hang around while we watch the next approaching cold front

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) – Warm and damp conditions in SWLA continue to produce foggy conditions overnight, but there is cooler weather in sight.

Widespread fog is settling in denser pockets for many areas this morning, reducing visibility to less than a mile. Make sure you take plenty of time heading out the door and exercise caution on the roadways if you have a long travel time as fog will be hanging around for most of the morning. Dense fog advisories are in place for Calcasieu and Cameron parishes until 10 AM.

Tuesday will be similar to Monday with generally warm and humid conditions. A little sunshine will work it’s way out by lunchtime into the afternoon, pushing highs into the upper 70s and possibly near 80 degrees which will of course feel warmer with the humidity! Although skies should see a little more sunshine later today, a few isolated showers still cannot be ruled out.

Wednesday will begin much like Tuesday with fog giving way to a warm and humid day. But a cold front will move through late in the afternoon or evening and this could bring a few more showers to the area, with rain chances being slightly higher for areas further north of I-10.

Temperatures will be cooler behind this front with Thursday and Friday morning beginning in the 40s and afternoon highs will remain in the 60s. These values are what is normal for this time of year.

A second and stronger cold front will arrive late Friday with even cooler temperatures for the upcoming weekend! Saturday and Sunday will begin with lows in the 30s and frost is possible Sunday morning. Afternoon highs will remain in the 50s both days; this will put temperatures a little lower than normal for this time of year.

However, chilly temperatures do not look like they will stick around for Christmas at the moment, with a gentle warming trend to take place starting Monday…
