One Killed After Being Hit by Semi-Truck in DeLand

One man was killed in a collision with a semi-truck on Thursday in DeLand, law enforcement announced after the incident. The DeLand Police Department is investigating the fatal crash.

The incident occurred at around 6:00 am on Thursday, December 26th. According to the DPD, the semi-truck was headed to the loading dock at the Winn-Dixie grocery store at 1050 West New York Ave. It was driving north on South Spring Garden Ave approaching West Howry Ave in order to, from what the details suggest, drop off a shipment of merchandise.

As it traveled, the DeLand Police Department says the semi-truck turned into the southwest entrance of the loading area where it would head east toward the docks. While turning, the truck then was said to have hit an adult male pedestrian, administering fatal injuries. Emergency response personnel arrived at the Winn-Dixie soon thereafter and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene…
