California Assemblymember criticizes Governor Gavin Newsom, LA Mayor for fire response

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Amid devastating Los Angeles wildfires, there is backlash against Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. People and lawmakers are unhappy with how these elected officials are responding.

As crews continue to battle the flames in Los Angeles, lawmakers in Sacramento are in a special session to prepare for any legal costs that may come during a second Trump administration. That is why Assemblymember Bill Essayli (R-Corona) sent Governor Newsom a letter, demanding him to call off the special session and to focus on fire-proofing the state.
