Lawrence goes OT for the win

(LAWRENCE ATHLETICS) APPLETON, Wis. — It may have been Friday the 13th, but luck had nothing to do with the Lawrence University women’s hockey team’s victory over Marian University. It was all skill.

Lauren Askenazy fired a crisp wrist shot into the upper corner of the net in overtime to give the Vikings a 3-2 nonconference victory over the Sabres at the Fox Cities Champion Center. The win was the fifth of the season for the Vikings, and that is the highest number of wins in a season since the program’s inception in 2021.

The game was tied 2-2 headed to the five-minute overtime, and Lawrence goaltender Sarah Dobrzynski made save on a breakaway early in the OT to keep the Vikings alive…
