BUCHANAN, Wis. (WBAY) -An Outagamie County Sheriff’s deputy is safe after nearly being hit by an alleged drunk driver early Tuesday morning.
Officials say Deputy Brent Baxter was stopped on County Highway CE near County Highway N in Buchanan around 1:00 Tuesday morning to clear a dead deer from the road when he saw an approaching vehicle was failing to move out of the way.
The large SUV struck Deputy Baxter’s squad, pushing the car 75 feet down the road. The SUV then crossed the median and nearly hit Baxter as he jumped out of the way. The SUV eventually came to rest on the westbound ramp to CE.
The driver of the SUV tried to run away but Baxter took him into custody. The driver has been identified as 35-year-ol Christopher Kitchenakow, who faces an alleged third OWI offense…
