(Waupun) The Waupun School District Board this week approved a resolution to pursue an operational referendum for the April ballot. The question will ask taxpayers to authorize the district to exceed the state-imposed revenue limit by $900,000 annually. This would begin in the 2025-2026 school year and end in 2027-2028.
School officials say the referendum is designed to support Waupun Area School District students by maintaining strong educational programming, keeping class sizes low, attracting and maintaining high quality staff, and funding building maintenance. They note that since November of 2022, the district has been committed to utilizing approved funding efficiently to achieve its mission.
The district adds that this referendum aims to sustain that progress and secure resources critical to student success.
