Montgomery County’s Five Busiest Fire Stations in 2024

The Gaithersburg Washington Grove Volunteer Fire Department (GWGVFD), located on the corner of Montgomery Village Avenue and Russell Avenue, has earned the designation of 2024’s busiest station in Montgomery County, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer.

In 2024, all MCFRS stations responded to 142,617 total calls– a 5% increase from last year. That’s roughly 391 calls per day. The Gaithersburg-Washington Grove Station (FS708) responded to 19,540 total calls, which is roughly 54 calls per day and about 13.7% of all calls in Montgomery County. Since 1927 the Gaithersburg Washington Grove Volunteer Fire Department has served the communities of Gaithersburg, Washington Grove, Derwood and Montgomery Village.
