Nevada State Police troopers honored with driver safety signs along Kyle Canyon Road

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Two Nevada State Highway Patrol troopers killed in the line of duty nearly one year ago were honored along Kyle Canyon Road.

Sergeant Michael Abbate and Trooper Alberto Felix were struck and killed in the early morning hours of Nov. 30, 2023, by Jemarcus Williams’ vehicle on northbound I-15 at the D Street off-ramp while responding to a car with a driver who might have been asleep. The crash happened a minute later as the two men were outside of their cruisers to the left side of the parked vehicle, according to police documents 8 News Now Investigators previously obtained and reported.

A long-standing campaign called Miles of Memories supported by STOP DUI and Nevada State Police honors victims of deadly DUI crashes each year by putting up signs along Kyle Canyon Road or State Route 157.

This year two of the signs honored NSP Trooper Felix and Sergeant Abbate. Their families were also in attendance for the special tribute on Wednesday afternoon.

It is the 14th year of the Miles of Memories campaign across the valley which helps serve as a driver safety reminder to the thousands of people traveling the area during the holiday season…
