PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – Doctors say shoveling snow is a strenuous activity that could lead to heart attacks or cardiac arrest.
Showri Karnam, an Interventional Cardiologist at Camden Clark in Parkersburg, says, “Most people don’t think shoveling snow is a big deal. It doesn’t appear to be an intense activity, but it puts a lot of strain on the heart.”
He says the cold weather puts an additional strain on the body. “Your blood pressure is higher, your heart rate increases, and your arteries and your heart clam down.”…
