Obituary: Gable, Dale L.

Dale L. Gable, 67, of Parkersburg, WV, died Monday, January 13, 2025, at his residence. He was born in New Martinsville, WV a son of the late Milton Gable, Jr. and Ruth (Riggenbach) Gable.

He retired from Marathon Petroleum (formerly Mark West) in 2024 after previously retiring from the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). Dale graduated Cum Laude from Ravenswood High School in 1975, where he was an active member of the marching band and Science Club. He earned his Associate’s degree from Parkersburg Community College in 1977 and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science from Ohio University in 1986. Throughout his academic career, Dale achieved notable success, earning several prestigious honors, including the Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award, the Outstanding Graduating Senior Award from the Geological Sciences Department, membership in the Sigma Gamma Epsilon National Honorary Society, and recognition in Who’s Who Among Students in America. Dale had a wide range of interests, including fishing, cooking, woodworking, arts and crafts, and design. A true jack-of-all-trades, he was known for his great sense of humor and diverse skills.

He is survived by his siblings Andrea McComas of Ravenswood and Stephen Gable of Thornville, OH; three aunts, Jean Marshall, Rita Dalrymple, and Norma Williams (Johnny); his nieces and nephews Lauren, Joseph, Matthew, Jonathan, Arika, and Ryan; and many cousins.
