Man arrested for potential hate crime, assault in DC, police say

WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — Police arrested a man for a potential hate crime that happened on New Year’s Day.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said that officers responded to the 800 block of H St. around 11:25 p.m. for a reported assault.

DC police seek 2 suspects in armed robbery case

The victim told officers that the suspect asked him for a cigarette. When he said he didn’t have one, the suspect “began to spew racial slurs at the victim” before assaulting him and leaving.

The officers found the suspect, 44-year-old Shawn Radford, and arrested him. He was charged with simple assault and threats to do bodily harm…
