NEW YORK (PIX11) – A Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) celebration is happening at a New York City cemetery on Friday.
The Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn is hosting a Day of the Dead family celebration.

“Day of the Dead is a two-day holiday that reunites the living and dead. Families create offerings to honor their departed family members. These altars are decorated with bright yellow marigold flowers, photos of the departed, and the favorite foods and drinks of the one being honored,” reads a website dedicated to celebrating the Mexican holiday. “Day of the Dead is a rare holiday for celebrating death and life.”
According to its website, Green-Wood Cemetery will celebrate the holiday with crafts, performances, music, family activities, and food. The event is free, but the Green-Wood Historic Fund is asking you to consider a $10 donation…
