After 80 years in the heart of Wakefield, Phil’s Main Street Grille serves its last meal

Phil’s Restaurant owner Ken Tetzner told The Journal that no one knew exactly how long Phil’s Gourmet Grille had been a restaurant. That was 25 years ago. It was said that this diner-style restaurant in the heart of old Wakefield had been everything from a shoe store to a fish market before it became Phil’s under Phil and Gladys Watson years ago. The Watsons sold it in 1975 to the first of several owners before Tetzner and the website now declares the diner has been open since the 1940s. The last meal at Phil’s was served over the weekend……
