Mother’s War On Violence hosting ‘Purpose through Pain’ Fundraiser

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Giving people the right to heal. That’s the mission of a fundraiser being held at the Peoria RiverPlex Saturday from 1-3 p.m.

About The Event

The event, which is titled “Purpose through Pain” is being held by Mother’s War On Violence, a group dedicated to “turning struggles into strength.”

On the event’s website, it reads, “Expect an evening filled with inspiring stories, live music, delicious food, and opportunities to give back. Together, we can make a difference and show that even in difficult times, there is always a way to find purpose.”

Importance

Yolanda Wallace is the executive director of Mother’s War On Violence. Her son Jon Buckley was shot and killed in 2006.

Following her son’s death, Wallace created the “Who Killed Me?” campaign which draws attention to unsolved murder cases…
