Pensacola moving forward with “New Palafox Project”

Lynette and Lewis Capehart took their time walking around the Hagler/Mason Conference Room at Pensacola City Hall, Tuesday night, so they could take in each conceptual drawing depicting the city’s proposed “New Palafox Project.”

The plan will transform sidewalks and intersections along the iconic downtown street and make it even more pedestrian-friendly by widening crosswalks and building more of them more-mid block, as well as adding brick pavers to allow for better drainage and planting some 51 trees.

“We love the changes that they’re going to make,” Lynette Capehart said. “We want more walking room because we walk a lot, so it’s nice that they’re going to make the sidewalks a little bigger, we’re happy about that.”…
