$6M going to Peoria’s health department to get rid of toxic metals in homes

PEORIA (25News Now) – More federal funding will go towards eliminating lead hazards from Peoria homes.

With the goal of protecting families, more than $420 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is going to 32 states, including Illinois.

From the funding, $2 million will be used to remove more housing-related hazards from homes, and roughly $10 million will be used to support research on more effective ways to detect and manage lead and other housing-related hazards…
