Central Illinois Friends Community Center now open

PEORIA – The new Central Illinois Friends Community Center opened on Monday, Jan. 20, with a ribbon cutting and speakers.

The new center is the end result of almost two years of work in creating a space in the largest Illinois city south of Chicago. Executive Director Deric Kimler said the center will be the home office of Central Illinois Friends, but its testing and service locations in Bloomington, Galesburg, and Peoria will keep serving the community.

The new center will also serve as a mailing address for other local nonprofits and meeting space both for organizations and the general public. Groups like Peoria Proud, ACLU of Central Illinois, PFLAG, and Acorn Equality Fund will all be taking advantage of the space…
