Arch Street, 1913 Flood

One positive outcome of the devastating flood of 1913 is that it left behind many early photographs that would otherwise never have been taken. This view looking north on Arch Street from Croghan shows the flood damage in this crowded block near Baumann’s Central Market. The buildings on the near corners of Arch Street still stand, but the Opera House across State Street was razed about 1959. (Submitted by Larry Michaels and Krista Michaels)…
