Albany man charged with Quail Street stabbing

ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — An Albany man has been arrested following a stabbing investigation, according to police. Rakim Baker, 35, was charged with second-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

On August 3 around 8:10 a.m., Albany Police responded to Quail Street near West Street for the report of a stabbing in the area. Arriving officers located a 22-year-old man with a stab wound to the back.

The victim was tended to on the scene by emergency medical personnel before being taken to Albany Medical Center to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The ensuing investigation resulted in Baker being identified as a suspect, and he was taken into custody on August 21.

Baker is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday morning at the Albany City Criminal Court.
