Lawrence man pleads guilty to passport fraud, ID theft

BOSTON (WWLP) – A man from Lawrence has pleaded guilty to making false statements on a passport application and to committing aggravated identity theft.

Pittsfield man found guilty of rape, witness intimidation

Ruben Dario Guerrero , 44, applied for a United States passport at a Lawrence post office on August 25th, 2023, according to the Department of Justice. Guerrero used the name, birthday, and social security number of a U.S. citizen who died in Puerto Rico back in 1997 and signed the application under an attestation that he declared under penalty of perjury that he was a U.S. citizen. However, identity documents from the Dominican Republic show Guerrero to be a Dominican citizen.

Guerrero faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, up to three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000 for making a false statement in a passport application. A mandatory sentence of two years in prison that must run consecutive to any other sentence, one year of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000 for aggravated identity theft. He is scheduled for sentencing on March 5th, 2025.
