Stillwater woman pleads guilty for grand larceny at an Albany day care

ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 )– A Stillwater woman pleaded guilty for a Grand Larceny charge on Friday, Sept. 20. Cynthia Peltier, 41, faces five years of probation for allegedly stealing $24,000 from a child day care center.

In March 2024, State Police received a report from a business in the Empire State Plaza of an employee cashing unauthorized forged checks into a personal bank account. During the time of Peltier’s arrest, it was determined she allegedly stole $13,000 from the business.

Peltier pleaded guilty to grand larceny in the third-degree. According to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office, an indictment alleged Peltier stole $24,204.90 through check fraud and stealing cash from the Children’s Place at the Plaza between October 2023 and March 2024. Peltier was a manager at the day care during the time and in charge of the payroll and company expenses.

Peltier is scheduled for sentencing on Nov. 22 at 9:30 a.m. In addition to facing probation, she is expected to pay full restitution.
