After low-scoring totals in their previous five contests, Neuqua Valley brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They never let the Plainfield South Cougars onto the board and left with a 5-0 victory on Thursday. Given the Wildcats’ advantage in MaxPreps’ Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Cougars are ranked 307th), the result wasn’t entirely unexpected.
Neuqua Valley’s win bumped their record up to 4-5-3. As for Plainfield South, they have been struggling recently as they’ve lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 1-9-1 record this season.
Neuqua Valley didn’t take long to hit the pitch again: they’ve already played their next matchup, a 4-1 loss vs. Downers Grove South on the 28th. As for Plainfield South, their homestand will continue as they prepare to take on Oswego at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
