A new owner for Van Alstyne grocery store, church

VAN ALSTYNE, Texas (KTEN) — After the city’s only grocery store closed down, the Van Alstyne Community and Economic Development Corporation purchased it and another historic property, the former First Baptist Church building.

The department, which gets its funding from sales tax revenue bonds, paid a total of $2.6 million for the two buildings.

Diamond Food Market decided to shut its doors after years of attempting to sell the property to another grocer.

The church staff decided it had outgrown the building, and have already relocated to fit their ministry’s needs…
