Grand Prairie ISD superintendent’s job in limbo
The Brief
- The temporary restraining order blocking Grand Prairie ISD from firing Superintendent Dr. Jorge Arredondo is no longer in effect after the district filed a motion that moves the case to federal court.
- The superintendent was hired by Grand Prairie ISD on June 24 and then placed on administrative leave just over two months later on September 4 over allegations of “violating DIA policy.”
- In October, the board was set to vote on whether or not to terminate his employment. However, a judge intervened when Arredondo sued for breach of contract for violation of due process and defamation.
- Arredondo’s attorney plans to file a motion with the federal court early next week in hopes of moving the case back to state court.
