Wolf Creek, CO, to Open from Tuesday, October 22 for Daily Skiing & Boarding

Wolf Creek Ski Area, Colorado, announced today, October 20, that the resort will be open from Tuesday, October 22.

While Wolf Creek will not take the crown for being the first resort in the U.S.A. to open for the season, the Colorado resort will offer considerably more terrain than Ski Ward, Massachusetts, which won the race to open by opening on Saturday, October 19. Ski Ward is currently offering a single run serviced by a surface lift. Wolf Creek Ski Area will ofer skiing and boarding seven days a week from Tuesday. The Bonanza, Treasure, and Nova Lifts will be operating from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., giving access to roughly 30% of the mountain. The Magic Carpet will be operating for the Wolf Pup & Wolf Rider Programs.

The snow depth at Wolf Creek Ski Area is currently 16 inches at the midway, and the year-to-date snowfall measures 21 inches. Conditions at Wolf Creek are machine-groomed with early season conditions and unmarked obstacles. Machine-groomed trails include:

  • Tranquility,
  • Bonanza Crossover,
  • Navajo Trail,
  • Summer Day,
  • Divide Trail/Kelly Boyce,
  • Powder Puff Valley,
  • Thumper,
  • Charisma,
  • Bunny Hop,
  • Nova,
  • and Susan’s.

As usual, with more snow and winter conditions, more terrain and lifts will open.

The 2024-25 season marks Wolf Creek’s 85th season, which the resort will celebrate with a series of fun events and activities throughout the season that offer skiers and boarders a chance to win prizes and swag, starting with Opening Day festivities.
