October 20-26 is National Friends of Libraries Week, and we would like to celebrate and thank the Friends of the Burnham Library. This dedicated group generously supports the Burnham Memorial Library through volunteering, fundraising, and advocacy. Their outreach has helped fund the 2018 renovations to the Meeting House, the ongoing care of the Library’s gardens, and the Library’s year round programs for all ages.
One of the Friends’ most visible fundraisers is the annual Summer Used Book Sale at Colchester High School. It takes a tremendous amount of volunteer hours to run this event. This summer, 46 community members gave 425 hours of their time receiving, sorting, and selling books. The Colchester community flocks to this beloved event which puts thousands of books into new hands and funds many programs for the Library for the coming year…
