BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX)—We will close the work week on a pretty good note. There is a mixture of sunshine and clouds through Friday, with high temperatures in the upper 20s and lower to mid-30s come this afternoon. An approaching frontal system from the west will kick in some brisk southerly winds on Saturday, especially in the Champlain Valley. The Champlain Valley could see gusts upwards of 40-50 MPH waking up Saturday morning.

Those south winds will bring warmer air into the region, with highs in the 30s and some even close to 40. As the system moves through late Saturday and Saturday night, we can expect a few rain showers in the valleys but snow showers in the higher elevations. That mix of precipitation will end up as snow showers on Saturday night, with just a dusting to an inch or two of new snow at the higher elevations.

New as of this morning, we watching for another system Sunday night into Monday. Right now, the biggest question is how far north the snow can make it. The models are still in disagreement right now, but the best chance of seeing a couple inches of accumulating plowable snow will be the further south and east you are.
