Motorcycle rider hospitalized after crash in Port St. Lucie involving SUV

PORT ST. LUCIE — A motorcycle rider was flown to a hospital after a Sunday crash involving a sport utility vehicle, the driver of which was jailed on a DUI-related charge, a Port St. Lucie Police spokesperson said Monday.

Police about 7:07 p.m. Sunday went to the incident at Southwest Bayshore Boulevard and Southwest Holden Terrace, said Sgt. Dominick Mesiti, police spokesperson. The location is south of Southwest Crosstown Parkway and east of Florida’s Turnpike.

An early investigation determined the motorcycle rider traveled north on Southwest Bayshore Boulevard at a “high rate of speed,” Mesiti said…
