Movers & Shakers: Banesco USA taps chief risk officer

In the latest roundup of South Florida real estate hiring news, a bank is minding its risk exposure, residential agent teams are on the move and Miami has a new director in its building department.

Miami-based bank Banesco USA hired Jose Morales as chief risk officer and executive vice president, according to a press release. In his new role, Morales will be responsible for ensuring the bank operates in a responsible manner, striking the balance between risk and business goals, the release shows. Prior to joining Banesco, Morales worked at Citigroup as director of transformation enterprise risk management and director of global payments and LATAM risk management, according to the release. 

In December, Banesco USA and the Spanish lender Abanca provided $33 million in financing to Constellation Group and Boschetti Group for a planned mixed-use development in Coral Gables. Despite high interest rates slowing lending nationally, construction lending in South Florida has soared in the past year. …
